I don’t believe I’ve spoken much about my friend Amy and her crazy soon-to-be ex-husband. Anyway, he’s nuts. Really, really nuts. He’s bi-polar, manic depressive, suicidal, and still obsessed with Amy.

But to my point… last May when Amy left him he went totally bat shit crazy. He was crazy before, but he REALLY went crazy over that. Threatened to kill her, threatened to kill their (at the time) three year old son, Logan. He came after her one night. Friends caught him before he got to her though. She went that night and spent half the night at the detention center getting a restraining order. (See the case file)

She gave it some time though and then tried to work things out, not get back together with him, but to come to civil terms for their child. Last August she had the restraining order dropped.

Boy… was that a mistake…

He was fine for awhile. Being alright and all that jazz. Then he snapped again. Went on a drunken rampage one night. Came after her again. Never got there because he wrecked his car. Took off and left the scene of the accident too. But that will never be brought up in court because someone covered for him and said that he had been at their house all night. However, he did land himself about five different gun charges. (See the case files here and here)

Lots of felony charges, eh? You would think with the way Harford County has been promising to “crack down on illegal firearms” that he would have gotten some time.

But no.

He walked. On everything. Because our legal system has failed us once again by not doing their job correctly. Yep, you heard it right kids, he walked on a fucking technicality.

So now he has a chance of getting some custody over Logan. It’s so nice to know that our government can’t even protect someone who really needs it. They even let him keep his guns. Even after he threatened to kill her. Even after they issued ANOTHER restraining order. Even though he has a diagnosed mental disease that legally prohibits him from owning a firearm.

And they’ve done nothing. I told Amy to go to the press about it. I don’t think she will though. But I believe that it could be the only way to bring this sort of atrocity to the peoples attention.

And people wonder why so many have no faith in the police or our judicial system. This is why motherfuckers.

Fucking hell - he walked? That’s outrageous!!

I’ve heard stories about the justice system over there before - but nothing like this.

What sort of judge would ever grant custody, even part custody to someone like that? If that happens, I’ll eat my proverbial hat… I can’t get over that. This girl Amy must be going through a train wreck. And you’re right, she should go to the press.

I though Bipolar disorder and being a Manic Depressive were the same thing? My mom has Bipolar but “back in the day”, like when I was 6, we called it being Manic Depressive… hmmm. Damn terminology!

Yeah, the guy really needs help. Is he on medication? He should be on some heavy stuff like haloperidol or something, for rage attacks. Oh man. I hope your friend and her kid win the custody battle, nobody that seriously ill should be responsible for a child.

Before I read the “…told Amy to go to the press about it.” part, I was already thinking in my head - Amy should write to the newspapers about it.

But gosh, that’s scary. But yes, you’re right, and I totally agree that your friends should go to the press about this matter. It’s very serious, because it involves the life of her three year old, and this whole situation can leave some traumatic effect him.

Going to the press would definitely draw a lot of attention, and under stress from the public, the authorities would be FORCED to do something about this, to clear their good name.

That’s how it works here anyway. Police would only move their butts when something hits the headlines.

That’s so horrible. I think the only way she can really take care of this is to take it all to the press. If the police can’t do their jobs correctly and he’s getting out of firearm charges because of technicalities, she has to do something about it. Hopefully you’ll be able to persuade her.

Hmm, that’s a pretty bad situation. But that’s what happens though isn’t it? The people that deserve and need punishment get jack-shit, and yet those that say, are less of a problem, get full blown wacked with punishment.

CRAZY!

My oh my, makes you wish you could establish your own country…

The whole court situation is ridiculous. I can’t believed he walked on those charges - what happened to our judicial system?

The press is a good idea, but all the publicity might make everything even more chaotic for Amy.

That’s so scary, I really hope things work out for your friend though! Legal system is so messed up, it always has been and seems to be getting worse … sadly:/

Wow, that is just awful. You’re right, after him coming after her a few times and showing complete instability of mind, they still let him off. That’s just the worst thing ever. Something has to be done. Maybe you’re right about going to the press, but that just ruins their lives by putting it out there, so of course she’s hesitant.
