Quite a taste for a well made mistake

So I’ve been gone awhile. Didn’t seem like all that much time, but I guess when you’re busy time passes quickly. So for updates, not that I have too many of them, but hey, somethings better than nothing, yeah?

1. Mike and I are back together. Simplicity in itself, no? That makes for happy times. Very happy times.

2. I had a break from school and work and went on vacation. We went to Disney World, it was cool. Lots of fireworks and such. I like fireworks, they remind me of my childhood. Well, more specifically of my dad. I remember going to watch the fireworks with him every year. Those times made me happy. Course, now I get all teary eyed when I watch fireworks, but it’ s a good teary eyed.

3. Back to the school thing, Got B’s in both my classes, disappointed in the one because it should have been an A, but I didn’t do as well on my final because I was soaking wet and freezing and rushed through it. No one’s fault but my own, but still disappointing. I have yet to register for fall classes, but I’m doing that sometime this week. Not really looking forward to it. School and work at the same time is killing me. I’m tired all the time and never have time to do anything. The fact that it will all be worth it in the end is really the only thing keeping me going. I swear I feel like I could sleep for a month straight.

It’s all good though. I’m happy. For once in a long time. I had a serious breakdown while away, but it did me so good. I got so much that I’ve been holding in for years out. I was waiting for it. I knew all the little breakdowns would give way to a big one where everything came out.

So, I hear you like movies too.

I’m a sucker for a good horror movie; sad thing is… there aren’t many good ones. People raved over Scream and how fabulous it was. News flash: Scream sucked. Along with 99.9% of the other horror movies ever made. Horror movies aren’t supposed to be about blood and gore, it’s supposed to be the raw elements that terrify you. Answer me this, when are you more frightened: When you know what’s coming and what to expect? Or the unexpected, the unknown, not knowing what’s happening?

Exactly, the unknown is more frightening that what we see and expect. When your imagination runs wild is when the good stuff really gets going. Horror movies overall tend to lack in that aspect. They fill you in all too quickly on the “scary” aspect of the movie. Scream for example, the whole time you knew it was some guy in a mask coming after you. Now lets look at another movie, The Descent. Firstly, I loved this movie. It was so well done. Set in a cave, in the dark, lost, raw elements with no help coming. Digging into things that people fear most.

And the best part about the movie… you never really get a good look at the monsters. Not to mention you never actually see them until about halfway through the movie. You kinda hear them and you know they’re around, but they don’t come out for awhile. I don’t want to ruin the movie for you, but simply put, it was so well put together and filmed well. It’s really a must see if you love horror movies.

But back to my point, horror movies are generally terribly done. I don’t want big movie stars whose faces I know. I don’t want to know what’s coming after me. I want a plausible plot line. I want to be frightened. I want to let my imagination to do the frightening for me. I want a good horror movie dammit!

Edit: I got my grades for the semester! I did well! Go me! All A’s and B’s. I feel awesome. Seriously. I suppose applying myself in school is a good thing.

Taking a Trip…

I’m heading down to Virginia tomorrow to visit my cousins. I’m definitely looking forward to it. I haven’t seen them since Christmas and it’ll be fun to have time with the girls. It takes about three hours to get down there, so I’m heading out almost directly after work. I’m gonna swing by Mike’s work to say bye to him for the weekend and then I’m hitting the road. :) I really can’t wait. It’s gonna be nice to just get away from here for a weekend.

I just finished this semester so I’ll have some free time until the second half of the summer semester starts. My mom and I got into a little spat today about me not going the first half of the summer. We talked it out though and she understands that I need a small break. I can’t keep pushing myself with school and work full time. I can do it, just not ALL year long. It’ll kill me. It’s stressful enough as it is. I need a break. But, grades should be available soon. I’m pretty positive that I have B’s and A’s.

In other news, I caught a shoplifter at work earlier this week. With $2000 worth of stuff. Got the plate number when she bolted out the door. She left the merchandise. But yeah, I win. That’s whats up.
